  1. Also; what lubricant is best to use to allow a smooth opening and closing of the lens. Mine keeps getting stuck - thanks.

  3. omg, the solution is at 6:45! I didn't have to dismantle the whole lens!
Thank you very much for this video, now I can start rearranging all the pieces again. I was about throwing everything at the garbage and buying a new one :-)
    You saved me big bucks!

  4. if you feel resistance at all, stop and try to re-position that smallest piece as tom does in his video with a small screwdriver (keep turning until you feel it just begin to move up). later when you're fitting the final piece on top to close up the lens, you can make fine adjustments on the small piece to make sure that everything fits together.

  5. hi there - thanks so much for this video, it was super helpful for both disassembling and assembling the lens. i actually have a dmc-fh27 that got jammed up with sand that i needed to clean and the lens appears to be almost exactly the same.

just a couple pointers to other folks trying this. be _very_ careful with the smallest lens piece. it has three tiny plastic parts that fit into rails. when you get to the point where you have to manually extend and retract the lens ...
