  2. I bought this camera at BestBuy because i wanted a compact camera with an SLR qualities & said this is the camera, but after testing it for several weeks I had to returned why? because this camera was assembled in CHINA says it all.The Quality CMOS Sensor is not good.
I have another sony DSC-HX9V and is an amazing camera, this camera was assembled in Japan, tremendous difference.
Do not be a fool and read the back of the box where these cameras are, where they are assembled.

  5. um...really should mention Zeiss right up front and immediately. That's the no.1 persuasion for this camera, in this price range.

  15. one more thought - I got the big DSLR's and the Sony RX100 but also have the Sony NEX7 and NEX5n and the Olympus OMD-5 - I find that even though the RX100 is awesome I think there is still space for the mirror less class - I use the NEX7 and OMD-5 for more serious street shooting etc. don't want to use big DSLR's to heavy and intrusive - but with the say OMD-5 for example lots of great lenses and still lot smaller than DSLR's

  16. Oh by the way - get the 3rd party charger and none Sony batteries - just as good and you will not have to charge via camera - only about $25 on Amazon but well worth it -
I got 2 extra batteries and charger - works great

  17. as an owner of the Sony RX100 - it is an awesome little camera - I just take it everywhere - due to its small size and you do not need to remove a lens cap - only the Fuji X20 can come close now to the Sony RX100 in sizes like the X20 and smaller - Hope Sony would keep lens brighter for next version like 1.8-2.8 - Video on the RX100 is super - if you like affects then the RX100 has some nice once -

  18. It fits in my jeans pocket fine and even fits in my slim fit chinos, not great in the chinos but still not bad. You'd have to wear some pretty ridiculously tight pants for it not to fit

  19. What is the best camera compared to this one that might be smaller?

I ride my bike everywhere and size really matters. I was thinking canon s110

  21. Yeah, I kinda felt this was an infomercial too. Other more comprehensive videos go thru all the settings and extras not discussed here. Overused "newbie" and "point and shoot".

I am semi-Pro and own a Sony RX100 and it compares in size, image quality, price to my Rollei 35S black body - which I bought 40 years ago ($140/73$). The 35S went thru heavy duty use - blizzards, 75' fall off a cliff and getting soaked in seawater. Still works great and if the 35S batt was dead the camera still work
